Buying custom made screen printed t-shirts can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. Understanding the process can help ensure that your shirts are affordable and turn out looking great. If you plan on purchasing custom made screen print t-shirts in the near future, use the following tips:

Choose a Light Colored Shirt

If possible, it is in your best interest to buy light colored shirts for printing. In most cases, a light colored shirt with darker print will turn out better. Designs don't always turn out as well on a dark colored shirt, and depending on the ink color you choose your design may end up being hard to see.

Avoid Using Too Many Ink Colors

When you want to keep the cost of your shirts affordable, try to avoid using too many different ink colors. When different ink colors are used, it takes longer to set up the screens used to print the t-shirts, which results in additional charges and more expensive shirts. Your best bet is to choose a bold design that uses just a few bright colors that will stand out.

Print on Just One Side

Two-sided printed t-shirts can look great, but they can be much more expensive than a one-sided printed shirt. When cost is a factor, consider skipping two-sided printing, and just have your design on either the front or the back of the t-shirt.

Get a Sample

Before you have your whole order printed, it is a good idea to pay for just one custom screen print t-shirt so you can look it over. The cost of the sample shirt may be more expensive than the other shirts in your order, but having the time to examine the shirt to make sure that you like how it looks can be very beneficial. The last thing you want is to pick up your whole order only to discover that you are not happy with how the design looks when it is printed on a t-shirt.

Order in Bulk

When placing an order for custom printed t-shirts, order as many as possible at one time. Most companies give discounts for bulk orders, so if you know that you will need a lot of t-shirts in the future, it makes sense financially to have them all printed at the same time. In the long run, you can save a lot of money on your t-shirts when you place one large order.
